Very original Renaissance Château with 4 towers and a moat is located just outside a small village and borders a small river, set in a beautifull, peacefull sloping countryside in the heart of Burgundy. Built on the foundations from the 13th century, the Château dates back to the 16th through 18th century and is set on an estate with some woods, grasslands and a potager.
The estate is walled for the large part, enabling an easy and fast possiblity of securing and hiding the estate from prying eyes. It has numerous outbuildings. The structure has recently been revised. For the rest the total château interior needs to be restored and refurbished.
Specific period style finishings of this property include ornamental front-door, ornamental gates, pierre de bourgogne floors, oak parquet floors, marble ornamental chimney pieces, period style rooms, ornamental wall panels in oak.
The Château (Renaissance style) is situated in the Morvan area, (Yonne, near Paris: 200km). It dates from the XVIth century, in a park/estate of 7ha.
Interior ImpressionsThe Château has a surface of approx. 1000 m² (gross) in original, authentic style. The total roofed surface including the outbuildings is approx. 1550 m² (gross). The interior needs a complete restoration (floors, inner walls, ceilings, wiring, plumbing, heating, etc.). Some period details remain in the chateau like ancient tiled floors, 18th century oak wainscoting, 19th century marble fireplaces, etc. |
The Château's layout is as follows:
- On the ground floor, a paved entrance leading to the courtyard, distributes 3 salons with tiled floors, a remarkable vaulted cellar with intersecting ribs in the western wing of an ancient wine storehouse, another large cellar in the second wing and additional rooms in the towers.
- An outdoor stone staircase leads to the 1st floor that offers a salon with tiled floor, a salon with wainscoting and parquet floor, a corridor that gives access to 3 rooms opening onto the main side, having parquet floors, alcoves, etc. Furthermore a kitchen with a baker's oven, a secondary kitchen, a shower room and attics on the eastern side.
- A secondary oak staircase leads to the attics that are divided into 4 further bedrooms and a large additional room that can be converted.
Outbuildings include:
The ancient farm is partially converted into a 50m2 apartment (new wiring, plumbing, electric heating and double glazing), with a salon, several cellars and workshops.
Ancient stables with a new roof.
Square dovecot with 2400 cells.
Large barn with an ancient sheepfold on the other side.
